Geoff Tyson - Here Again (uploaded Tue 18 Nov 2008) This is the second track I’ve done with Geoff Tyson. Geoff has his own Wikipedia entry because he was a student and jamming-buddy of guitar hero Joe Satriani. He also features on one of the Guitar Hero games. He knows how to put a song together too, so it was nice to work on this stuff – I have been able to focus on sonic experimentation instead of boring stuff like pitch and timing correction! This one is pretty intense. Hoping to do something a bit more restrained for our third effort. |

Don't Let Me Down (uploaded Wed 12 Nov 2008) Here’s something that I’ve been working on with Fátima Eiras over the Internet. Fátima is supporting the Ting Tings in Madrid next week as “Fatima Meets Kuriaki”. So she’s gonna be famous very soon. |

Listen To The Stereo (uploaded Mon 04 Aug 2008) This is just me playing. No post-production ? everything as out of tune and out of time as when I played it. Still, it has jaunt. |

So – here’s the new L1NA (hm.. working title still..) song. This track started with a sound I heard in a dream while I was staying in the mountains of Japan. I woke up and picked up the laptop I’d belligerently brought with me on the holiday trip, and miraculously managed to reproduce the sound I’d heard in my dream. We decided this would be a nice L1na track so I put constructed an approximate backing track. Halina insisted on recording her ‘dodgy lyrics’ on the highest quality equipment I could lend her. She emailed the words back to me and I set them back into the track, and a few tinkerings later, this is the result. I hope you will enjoy it. This one could make you happy. You can see Halina’s running commentary on our collaborations at lina.grimacworks.com |

sing_the_truth (uploaded Wed 07 May 2008) The first time Halina came to do some music with me, this was the image I had in mind – I wanted to make a song where I’m pointing a gun at a frightened girl’s head and forcing her to sing. Couldn’t say why… You may have heard Halina’s version of the track over at lina.grimaceworks.com — well this is my version (using the same vocal parts from the original – recorded by Halina ‘late and night with the neighbours banging down’ ). I wasn’t gonna finish it but she borrowed my laptop and found a work in progress and apparently it’s the kids’ favourite so I had to keep hearing about it…. Here ya goes anyhoe. (um… the title of this post is funny but due to the extremely convoluted background process by which mp3s get onto my website I am a bit scared to change it in case something breaks…… oh dear.) |

The music is the result of a tune I had in my head when I am being insomniac. Wanted to knock something up quickly with Dewex in mind, and I think you’ll agree the track benefits magnificently from his august presence. I won’t lie to you: this one’s a bit weird.. |

Song Of Technology (uploaded Sat 27 Oct 2007) This is a joyous song about the fact that I am completely and utterly dependent on modern technology. I dunno – I think I’d be okay without all of it but I prefer things the way they’re going. |

|
Made this today, from start to finish. The words are “One day, there will be a way, to make you feel okay without spoiling Tuesday”. This song is about drugs and future-technology, if that is not immediately obvious. Imagine being able to get high without getting the Tuesday Blues through some sort of nanotech medicine.. |

installation_5.m4b (uploaded Sat 16 Jun 2007) I’ve managed to add all the fancy metadata needed to make this podcast have chapters, links and pictures in iTunes. It probably won’t work in anything else, unfortunately. However, at 3 hours in duration, it’s a little too long for casual listening, so now you can skip through the chapters in iTunes. There’s some copyrighted material on there – if this is a problem for any labels then I am happy to chuck some pounds there way based on my feedburner stats. Hopefully this won’t be a problem and this is all under the radar… It’s all marked up anyway, if you want to track down any of the tunes. Here are some pictures from the set. I recommend you come to this via my podcast |

With the emphasis on rejection.. Actually, forget that. When I listen to this I feel like I’m on a giant ship – comfortable – reassured by the roar of the engines. |

Anger belly: it’s still not quite there- there’s some mess. I hope you like it nevertheless. |

This almost had singing on it. But I balked. Works pretty well without vox though. |

I made this track while I was on the train up to Nottingham. There were fields going by. |

I put this together mid last year as part of my sponsored sell-out attempt. The girl who was supposed to do vocals on it didn’t do it justice. Here it is for you to use if you wanna. Or just listen to the backing track :) |

Clanging - Michael Forrest (uploaded Sun 18 Jun 2006) I just played the organny bit the whole way through and then put some music on. The same process as I did for ‘We Did’. It’s fairly rough and ready this one. |
|---|
|
This is the other backing track I did as part of my sellout attempt. The reason I didn’t pursue selling out was because I basically wasn’t enjoying it, and I realised I was feeling the pressure of not one but two stressful day jobs.. So I decided I had to be true to myself. |

Michael Forrest - Dreaming of Polygamy (uploaded Wed 24 May 2006) I left this on loop for ages and it kept sounding good – it came out very circular. The title comes from a dream I’d just woken up from when I made the track, where I was being very.. polygamous. Good dream. |
