Broken Into Tumbolia Broken Into Tumbolia (October 2006) is a masterpiece of the cut and paste ethos of much electronic music. As one man's work, it is a testament to his almost limitless creativity. Broken Into Tumbolia is a strange electronic combination of free jazz, hip hop and drum'n'bass, but it all manages to stay head-noddingly funky. The record is an ever-evolving musical soundscape built around more than a fair helping of bass.

Psychogenic Fugue State Psychogenic Fugue State (July 2008) is a journey into the dark heart of human relationships, with all the joy and despair that travel in their wake. This work moves from the intense passion of the first throes of love through the melancholy slow-burning despair of loneliness, the realisation that we have the power to hurt others and the redemption that can come from anger. It is a record that sits firmly on the bleeding edge, but one we should all relate to.

Majectical Electical Majectical Electical (August 2008) finds the artist in positive, even joyful, mood. Expressed herein is something unusual, but wonderful, about daydreams and dancefloors. Playing trumpet, clarinet, live drums and heavy bass with one hand, cranking up his homebrew electronics with the other and a smile about the face, Michael Forrest provides a multi-genre blast of optimism, a remedy for stylistic stagnation, blues and boredom.

Geoff Tyson - Here Again (uploaded Tue 18 Nov 2008)

This is the second track I’ve done with Geoff Tyson. Geoff has his own Wikipedia entry because he was a student and jamming-buddy of guitar hero Joe Satriani. He also features on one of the Guitar Hero games. He knows how to put a song together too, so it was nice to work on this stuff – I have been able to focus on sonic experimentation instead of boring stuff like pitch and timing correction! This one is pretty intense. Hoping to do something a bit more restrained for our third effort.

Don't Let Me Down (uploaded Wed 12 Nov 2008)

Here’s something that I’ve been working on with Fátima Eiras over the Internet. Fátima is supporting the Ting Tings in Madrid next week as “Fatima Meets Kuriaki”. So she’s gonna be famous very soon.

This is just me playing. No post-production ? everything as out of tune and out of time as when I played it. Still, it has jaunt.

Make_a_promise Make a promise (uploaded Wed 07 May 2008)

So – here’s the new L1NA (hm.. working title still..) song. This track started with a sound I heard in a dream while I was staying in the mountains of Japan. I woke up and picked up the laptop I’d belligerently brought with me on the holiday trip, and miraculously managed to reproduce the sound I’d heard in my dream.

We decided this would be a nice L1na track so I put constructed an approximate backing track. Halina insisted on recording her ‘dodgy lyrics’ on the highest quality equipment I could lend her. She emailed the words back to me and I set them back into the track, and a few tinkerings later, this is the result.

I hope you will enjoy it. This one could make you happy.

The first time Halina came to do some music with me, this was the image I had in mind – I wanted to make a song where I’m pointing a gun at a frightened girl’s head and forcing her to sing. Couldn’t say why…

You may have heard Halina’s version of the track over at lina.grimaceworks.com — well this is my version (using the same vocal parts from the original – recorded by Halina ‘late and night with the neighbours banging down’ ). I wasn’t gonna finish it but she borrowed my laptop and found a work in progress and apparently it’s the kids’ favourite so I had to keep hearing about it….

Here ya goes anyhoe.

(um… the title of this post is funny but due to the extremely convoluted background process by which mp3s get onto my website I am a bit scared to change it in case something breaks…… oh dear.)

Denial Denial (uploaded Tue 11 Mar 2008)

The music is the result of a tune I had in my head when I am being insomniac. Wanted to knock something up quickly with Dewex in mind, and I think you’ll agree the track benefits magnificently from his august presence.

I won’t lie to you: this one’s a bit weird..
